ETO Achieves Energystar Certification
can save families about a third on their energy bill.
ETO Doors Corp. is committed to achieving the highest standards of energy efficiency on all products. Energy efficient choices
ETO has collaborated with the government's Energy Star Program. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized ETO Door's environmentally friendly practices with an Energy Star Certification. ETO certifies that our Glass Doors meet or exceed the prescriptive criteria established by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) and are ENERGY STAR qualified for all climate zones when selected with an Energy Star glass package.
PRESS RELEASE: January 20th, 2011
ETO Doors Announces Energy Star Certification
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized ETO Door's envirnomentall friendly practices with an Energy Star Certification.
Los Angeles, CA, January 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- While ETO Doors has been committed to environmentally conscious products and practices since its inception, it has finally been approved with an Energy Star Certification. The Energy Star Certification was designed by the EPA to recognize products that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by maximizing efficiency, and to give products an easily identifiable badge so that consumers can make environmentally wise purchases.
ETO Doors' previous recognitions for environmental stewardship include a certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is an independent nonprofit, which works to promote the protection of our world's forests. FSC certifies businesses in more than 50 countries around the world, and ETO is only one of a few door companies in the United States to earn this certification.
In addition to the FSC certification, ETO Doors' Los Angeles facility hosts numerous solar panels on its rooftop. Thanks to these solar panels, ETO now independently produces all of its electrical needs. ETO's green efforts have generated the energy equivalent to saving nearly 1,500 acres of trees, creating a significant reduction in air pollution and its resulting environmental damage.
"We are honored to receive the Energy Star Certification," said Tal Hassid, president of ETO Doors. "Our continual efforts to protect the environment are being now recognized by the EPA, and our customers can clearly see that when they buy our products, they're making a difference."
NFRC is the recognized leader in energy performance rating and certification programs for fenestration products. The NFRC is the only non-profit organization that administers uniform, independent rating and labeling systems for the energy performance of doors, windows, skylights etc.
This NFRC report provides information on our doors' energy rating including a "U-Factor," "Solar Heat Gain Coefficient," "Visible Transmittance" and "Condensation Resistance."
U-Factor
U-factor is also known as thermal transmission. Here, it is used to measure the rate of heat loss through a door, therefore, the lower the U-factor, the lower the amount of heat loss. In cold climates, where heating bills are a major concern, choosing doors with lower U-factors will reduce the amount of heat which escapes through a door from inside your house to the outside. U-Factor ratings generally fall between .20 and 1.20.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, also known as "SHGC", measures the rate of heat gain through a door. Therefore, the lower the SHGC, the lower the amount of solar heat gain. In hot climates, where air-conditioning bills are a major concern, choosing doors with lower SHGC will reduce the amount of heat that comes in through your doors from the outside. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1.
Visible Transmittance
Visible Transmittance (VT) measures how much light comes through a window. The higher the visible light transmittance, the more light is transmitted through the window. VT is expressed as a number between 0 and 1.
Condensation Resistance
Condensation Resistance (CR) measures the ability of a door to resist the formation of condensation on the interior door surface. The higher the rating, the better the product is at resisting condensation formation. CR is expressed as a number between 0 and 100.

STC Rating
SOUND TRANSMISSION CLASS (STC) PRODUCT PERFORMANCE RATING REPORT
ETO Doors' products have been tested for sound transmission class (STC) ratings. This Sound Transmission Report provides information on our door's acoustical performance.
STC REPORT
STC ratings allow to accurately compare noise reduction capabilities by using a single value for the acoustical performance of a door. STC ratings are calculated by a weighted average of Transmission Loss (TL: a door's ability to reduce noise) values taken over 16 frequencies, which are fitted to a curve in a method defined by the ASTM E413 Classification Standard for Rating Sound Insulation. The higher the STC value, the better the rating, and the more sound is stopped.
The OITC (Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class) was also calculated in testing in accordance with ASTM E 1332. It is important to note that a door's sound rating is only as good as the gasketing and perimeter seals that are used. Specification writers and architects should note that to achieve utmost results, doors, frames and gasketing must be properly installed to maintain control of the sound in the area.

OUR WARRANTY TO YOU...
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Read this entire ETO Doors Limited Warranty and Limitation of Liability ("Limited Warranty") before purchasing or installing this product. By installing or using this product you are acknowledging that this Limited Warranty is part of the terms of sale.
A Delivery Release must be faxed to ETO within 72 hours of receiving doors to validate warranty.
WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS
This Limited Warranty applies only to ETO Doors (ETO) wood entry doors, interior doors, door frames, sidelights and transoms ("Covered Products"). ETO makes the following exclusive express Limited Warranties for ETO Wood Door System products installed within the United States and Canada, subject to the stated conditions and limitations. This Limited Warranty is not transferable.
I. Non-glass Materials & Workmanship One-Year (1-Year) Nontransferable Limited Warranty.
ETO warrants that the non-glass components of its Wood Doors shall be free of manufacturing defects in material or workmanship that significantly impair their proper operation and function for one (1) year from the date of sale. Should the warranted wood door be found to contain defects in materials or workmanship as installed in its original door opening occurring within one (1) year from the date of sale by ETO, ETO shall, and at its sole option: 1) repair or replace: defects, material or workmanship that significantly impairs the proper operation and function or 2) refund the original purchase price. Grilles or any other alterations not installed by ETO may void this warranty. This Limited Warranty on Non-glass Components does not apply to hardware finishes.
II. Non-decorative and Decorative Glass One-Year (1-Year) Limited Warranty.
ETO warrants that all the glass (clear insulated and decorative insulated) shall be free from premature failure or permanent material obstruction of vision due to a failure of the glass seal for one (1) year from the date of sale by ETO. If ETO is given notice of a glass defect occurring within one (1) year of the date of sale by ETO, ETO shall, at its sole option: 1) repair or replace the defective glass or 2) refund the original purchase price.
NOTE: ETO cannot under any circumstances be responsible for installation, repainting, refinishing or other similar activities necessary to complete the replacement or any cost associated with the resolve of glass claims.
ETO will furnish the insulated glass only free of charge, F.O.B. the original point of delivery. Cracked or broken glass is not covered by the warranty. Decorative glass that is hand crafted may vary from one lite to another and contain variations in color, size, glass clarity and welded joints may differ. These are not defects. Tempered glass contains varying degrees of distortions. These distortions may affect view and are not considered a defect. All glass should be cleaned with mild soap & water only. All other solutions could cause damage or seal failure. Do not allow metal parts of cleaning equipment to contact glass.
III. Important Notes and Requirements For Your Warranty:
1. NOTE: EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN, ETO SHALL NOT PAY FOR THE COST OF LABOR, INSTALLATION, FINISHING, PAINTING, SHIPPING ETC. OF THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ORIGINAL DOOR OR FOR ANY OTHER COST RELATING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DOOR, ALL OF THESE COSTS DESCRIBED SHALL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON MAKING THE WARRANTY CLAIM.
2. NOTE: Since many minor flaws can be repaired or corrected, all items should be inspected thoroughly for such defects upon receipt and before machining. Please be aware that the machining of a door, sidelight or transom constitutes acceptance of the product as it was received by our customer. Any minor flaws or defects that may exist at the time of machining will not be considered as defective product or claimable once machining has been completed. So, please inspect all items thoroughly before the machining process takes place. These doors are shipped to you unsealed and unfinished, so we do not warrant against the natural characteristics of the wood which may occur in the various conditions encountered from our plant to your finished opening. Because the wood can respond in different ways to the variety of atmospheric and environmental conditions, it is imperative that special attention is given to the door and the necessary care and effort taken to protect the door in the unfinished state to minimize the potential for problems.
3. NOTE: Doors must be installed providing protection from exposure, typically with a standard overhang extending outward a distance equal to one-half its height from the bottom of the door up to the overhang to be covered by this warranty.
4. NOTE: Any deterioration caused by failure to finish and seal all exposed surfaces and edges of the door within 48 hours of delivery are not covered by this warranty. For continued protection, the finish needs to be maintained yearly.
5. NOTE: Please comply with all of the handling and finishing instructions completely to validate the warranty. The product must be hand- sanded before finishing.
6. NOTE: ETO is not responsible for or makes no warranty as to: Any visible defect or mistake in shipment reported to ETO Doors more than 24 hours after receipt or after the product is machined or installed.
Without the notation "Potential Damage, Subject To Inspection" on the delivery receipt, ETO doors cannot guarantee reimbursement in case of shipping damage.
7. NOTE: All doors must be finished within 48 hours of receiving the door and due to the hygroscopic nature of lumber should not be stored in an unfinished state beyond this period.
8. NOTE: Doors must be stored flat on a level surface in a dry, well ventilated building at least 4" above the ground and covered to avoid direct sunlight, as well as moisture, dirt and dust.
9. NOTE: ETO may charge a fee for on-site product inspections that will only be reimbursed to the customer if a valid claim under this warranty exists.
10. NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RETURN ANY ITEMS WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM ETO DOORS.
IV. Important Handling, Finishing and Installation Instructions:
1. Most finishes on exterior doors deteriorate relatively quickly. To insure exterior doors receive the protection required, inspect the condition of exterior finish at least once a year and refinish as often as needed to maintain the protective stability of the finish.
2. Entrance doors shall always be shipped and stored vertically (not leaning).
3. Doors shall not be exposed to excessive heat, dryness, humidity or direct sunlight prior to finishing.
4. Handle door with clean gloves and do not drag doors across each other or other surfaces.
5. If doors are stored on the job site for more than 7 days, all exposed surfaces and edges of the door must be finished and sealed — even if stored out of the elements.
6. All hardware locations, preparations and methods of installation must be appropriate for the specific door.
7. All doors 7' and under must have three hinges. Doors over 7' must have four hinges. (Exception: 8' Round Top will have three hinges)
8. Prior to finishing, remove all handling marks with 150-grit or finer sandpaper and remove all sanding dust.
9. Apply sealer, primer or first coat of required finish immediately after fitting, cutting for hardware, etc., and before the installation of hardware.
10. ALL EXPOSED SURFACES OF THE DOOR MUST BE SEALED, INCLUDING THE TOP, BOTTOM, SIDE EDGES AND THE HARDWARE CUTOUTS.
11. NOTE: An interior-grade lacquer is NOT a satisfactory product for exterior use.
12. All exterior surfaces — including the top, bottom and sides of the door — must be finish coated with a good quality exterior- grade paint or top coat. (AT LEAST 3 COATS OF EXTERIOR GRADE TOP COAT WITH A UV INHIBITOR MUST BE APPLIED.)
13. In order not to induce warpage or excessive deterioration of your door, avoid using dark stains or paints on the door surfaces exposed to direct sunlight.
V. Conditions Applicable to All Sales and Limited Warranties
Limitation of Warranty. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ETO HANDLING, FINISHING, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS VOIDS ALL WARRANTIES UNLESS IT IS CLEARLY ESTABLISHED BY THE BUYER OR USER OF THE PRODUCT THAT THE DEFECT OR FAILURE IS UNRELATED TO SUCH NONCOMPLIANCE. These warranties do not extend to the use of Covered Products under abnormal conditions, conditions that exceed the stated performance parameters of the product as provided on the product labeling or under conditions not reasonably foreseeable to, or beyond the control of ETO. Buyer and User assume the risk of any such use. This Limited Warranty is the exclusive warranty for ETO wood door products.
NEITHER ETO NOR SELLER MAKE ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR OTHERWISE. NO IMPLIED WARRANTY SHALL EXTEND BEYOND THE PERIODS COVERED BY THIS EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY. This disclaimer of implied warranties may be limited or ineffective if you are a consumer, as that term is defined by the Magnuson Moss Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2301, in which case the duration of any implied warranties shall be one (1) years from the date of sale by ETO or its authorized dealer. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts for consumers, so the above limitation may not apply to you, in which event the manner of presenting any claim thereon shall be the same as provided in the express warranties stated herein. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have additional rights, which vary from state to state.
THE REMEDIES FOR THE BUYER DESCRIBED IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY ARE EXCLUSIVE and take the place of any other remedy. The liability of the Manufacturer, whether in contract or tort, under warranty, product liability, or otherwise, will not go beyond the Manufacturer's obligation to repair or replace, at its option, as described above. THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, including (but not limited to) damage or loss of other property or equipment, personal injury, loss of profits or revenues, business or service interruptions, cost of capital cost of purchase or replacement of other goods, or claims of third parties for any of the foregoing.
VI. Allocation of Risks of ETO Wood Door Systems Performance.
Because all construction must anticipate some water infiltration, it is important that the wall system be designed and constructed to properly manage moisture. ETO Corporation is not responsible for claims or damages caused by anticipated or unanticipated water infiltration; deficiencies in building design, construction and maintenance; failure to install ETO wood door products in accordance with ETO Installation Instructions; or the use of ETO wood door products in barrier wall systems, which do not allow for proper management of moisture within the wall system (see the following).
The determination of the suitability of all building components, including the use of ETO Door products, as well as the design and installation of flashing and sealing systems, is the responsibility of Buyer or User, the architect, contractor, installer or other construction professional and is not the responsibility of ETO. All risks related to building design and construction or the maintenance, installation, and use of ETO wood door products shall be assumed by Buyer and/or User.
IMPORTANT NOTICE— ETO wood door products should not be used in barrier wall systems, which do not allow for proper management of moisture within the wall systems, such as Exterior Insulation Finish Systems, (EIFS) (also known as synthetic stucco) or similar systems. Except in the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado, ETO makes no warranty of any kind on and assumes no responsibility for ETO wood doors installed in barrier wall systems. In the states listed above, the installation of ETO products in EIFS or similar barrier systems must be in accordance with ETO's instructions for that type of construction.
VII. Limitation of Liability.
This Limited Warranty sets forth the maximum liability for our products. IN NO EVENT (INCLUDING WHERE THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS DEEMED NOT TO APPLY TO THE SALE OR PRODUCT IN QUESTION) SHALL ETO BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE SALE, INSTALLATION OR USE OF ANY ETO PRODUCTS. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of Incidental or consequential damages for consumers, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
VIII. Limitation of Remedy.
THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE BUYER OR USER, AND THE SOLE LIABILITY OF ETO AND SELLER FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, LOSSES, INJURIES OR DAMAGES (INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED ON BREACH OF WARRANTY, CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE) RESULTING FROM THE SALE, INSTALLATION OR USE OF THESE PRODUCTS, SHALL BE, AT THE OPTION OF ETO, TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT OR THE RETURN OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT, AS PROVIDED HEREIN. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LIABILITY OF ETO OR SELLER EXCEED THE PRICE PAID FOR THE PRODUCT.
Replacement product shall be a reasonably similar current product and may not exactly match the original. Even where ETO chooses to repair or replace product within one (1) year of the date of sale, the costs covered by this warranty do not include any labor or material costs associated with finishing space surrounding or adjacent to the repaired or replaced product including furnishing any trim or other carpentry work. Replacement product provided pursuant to this Limited Warranty shall be subject to the applicable ETO Product Limited Warranty only for the remainder of the original warranty period on the product being replaced. If ETO or Seller provides any of the remedies identified in the Limited Warranties above (i.e., repair, replacement of product or refund of the purchase price), then Buyer and/or User agree that this limitation of remedy shall not have failed of its essential purpose.
IX. Transferability
